Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food frozen dessert is delicious, but how did it come about? “Most attempts at marshmallows were bad. ‘You can see the white stripes, but you can’t taste them, you can’t feel them, you can’t experience the true, glorious marshmallowyness of it all,'” recalls Ben. In 1995, we formed the rock band Phish to celebrate our shared roots in Vermont, USA by creating a variation of Phish.
When the wheels of collaboration began to spin, releasing sample cups of the evolving concoction. “We ate a lot of sample pots at the table with Phish.
For example, the band was instrumental in using caramel swirls, an addition that exaggerated the flavor.
We think Phish Food is great. To like! We collaborate with Fairtrade certified producers for cocoa, sugar and vanilla and our Caring Dairy farmers produce the milk and cream from this vat in a sustainable way.
