What is a blog???

You may have heard the word, but many of you may not even know what a blog is!  How many times have you seen the option to “Blog This!” but didn’t know what it meant?  This page is a good start.  I have collected a few sources that may help you join the  blogosphere.  If nothing else, at least you will know not to be concerned if someone refers to himself as a blogger.

Microsoft has a great Introduction to Blogs that provides all of the details of blogging and what makes a blog a blog.blogosphere.jpg

Another good introduction is provided at the Wordpress website.  Wordpress is one of the most popular personal publishing platforms used to create and publish blogs.

The NY Times also posted an extensive list of new blogs that are a great aid in understanding the function of this new medium of mass communication.

As blogging becomes more and more prevalent in society, organizations are beginning to realize the need to inform the community about the blogosphere.  In January of this year, the Savannah Morning New’s website, SavannahNow, hosted an UnConference in conjunction with The Creative Coast Initiative that focused on the importance and value of blogs in society.  At the conference, I was fortunate to be a part of the Business Blogging 101 session facilitated by Chris Cree of SuccessCreeations.  Chris has been a wonderful resource to me as I endeavor to create a spot for the COEBlog in the ever-growing blogosphere.
