Internship II (Student Teaching) for Early Childhood Education requires current Infant, Child and Adult CPR and First Aid certification. Our records using the following 907 (See list below)… numbers explain these candidates need current CPR and First Aid Certification to begin Internship II in January 2009. Please submit evidence showing your current Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid certification to Ms. Donatelli in University Hall 269 on or before Wednesday, January 7, 2009.

Internship II (Student Teaching) can only begin for candidates who possess Infant, Child, and Adult CPR and First Aid certification.
CPR training must occur face-to-face.

16th Annual Bus Trip Across Georgia

The Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education is conducting the south route of the 16th annual Bus Trip Across Georgia, November 18-20. They will visit achieving schools in Warner Robins (middle school), Ellavilla (middle/high school), Albany(charter, elementary), Funston (elementary), Thomasville (primary), and Valdosta (high school). The travel is in two tour buses and the partnership traditionally offers a few seats to senior education students. This is a wonderful opportunity and does not cost students anything. The trip will leave from Perry, GA, so the only requirement is for students to get themselves to and from Perry. All food and lodging expenses for the trip are covered by the Partnership.

A couple of seats have been reserved for AASU students. Details and registration information is available on the website at http://www.gpee.org (Annual Bus Trip page).

Reminder: ECE Internship I Registration Form (Spring 09)

Anyone who is registering for Internship I (ECUG 3750) in the Early Childhood Education program for the spring semester needs to complete a preference form for field placement no later than Friday, November 14th. Please return the form to Ms. Laura Caputo, Director of Field Experiences, Clinical Practice and Partnerships. The form can be faxed to Ms. Caputo’s attention at 912.344.3436 or dropped by her office in University Hall 261.

Family in Need of Sitter

A new family to Savannah is looking for a sitter to watch their 6 year old little boy on occasion. He attends Savannah Country Day School. The family is from Atlanta and is trying to acquire a list of qualified sitters that they could call from time to time. They live on Dutch Island, so the potential sitter would need to have a car. G.A.M.E.S Meeting - November 12th

Attention December, 2008 Graduates in the M.A.T. and Post-Baccalaureate Programs in the Department of Early Childhood Education!

If you are an M.A.T. or Post-Baccalaureate student in the Department of Early Childhood Education completing your degree requirements in December, 2008, you must apply for Program Completion (Decision Point 3).

Please submit completed applications only to Dr. Elizabeth Crawford in University Hall Room 258 no later than December 5th at 5:00 p.m.

Upon verification the candidate has met all program requirements (and, for M.A.T. students, degree completion is posted on the candidate’s AASU transcript), he or she is responsible for submitting an application for P-5 renewable teacher certification.

To apply for your renewable T-4 (Post-Baccalaureate) or T-5 (M.A.T.) teaching license, download and complete the application at http://www.gapsc.com/Download/Application.pdf . Send the completed application and an official AASU transcript to Ms. Kathy Driggers, Certification Officer, in University Hall Room 250. Ms. Driggers makes the recommendation to the Georgia Department of Education that the student be licensed.
