Clearing Up Confusion - Courtesy Placement Requests

From the emails I have been receiving, there is apparently confusion regarding the need for a Courtesy Placement Request form. You only need to submit this request if you are hoping to complete an internship outside of AASU’s service area. In other words….somewhere FAR away. Click here to see the map of our service area. The counties that are highlighted in yellow or green are a part of AASU’s service area. Any other county in Georgia would require a courtesy placement request. Any county outside the state of Georgia would also require a courtesy request.

Please note the following policies regarding courtesy placement requests:

The Courtesy Placement Request Form must be submitted to your department head no later than October 1st. (Today!) With that form, you must also submit a formal, detailed letter to your department head indicating the circumstances leading to your request.

You will be required to list on that form a university you have already contacted that is willing to host you as a courtesy intern and provide supervision.

You will register for the Internship course at AASU and pay AASU’s tuition. You will also be charged the $250 Internship Fee.

You will be responsible for paying any fees charged by the supervising university (i.e. University Supervisors mileage and fee, and cooperating teacher stipend). These fees you will pay directly to the supervising university.
