COEBlog Reporting Virus

July 18, 2008 |

Currently, when you open the COEBlog in your Internet Browser, it is resulting in a warning message about a possible threat. I have looked into the threat and it is the VBS/Psyme Trojan, which is a form of spyware. Clearly, I have not attached a trojan to the website, but I am diligently trying to find out why this message appears. If you research this trojan, you will find that it is a low threat.

If however, if you receive the email updates and you open any linked attachments through the email, you should not have a problem.

I will let you know once I resolve this matter. In the meantime, you may want to make sure you are subscribed to the blog with your email address rather than visiting the actual site in a web browser.

Update: This seems to be an issue that many Wordpress users are experiencing with their own blogs. Wordpress provides the template I use to create and update the blog. I have sent an email to technical support and will let you know what I am told. Also, many of the support techs at the Wordpress support blog believe this is a false positive and no threat exists. I will continue to post updates.
