The Georgia Professional Standards Commission requires that all candidates recommended for certification in the State of Georgia have demonstrated proof of competencies in Instructional Technology. This requirement is satisfied at Armstrong Atlantic State University by the completion of one of the following courses:

  * EDUC 3100 Technology for Teachers (2)
  * EDUC 6100 Technology for Teacher (2)

Some programs at AASU do not have one of these technology courses included in the program of study leading to the degree. If a candidate is enrolled in a program that does not require one of these courses – the candidate can take the state mandated computer skill competency test. Effective 9/30/07, the only test which PSC will accept to satisfy the technology requirement is the new GACE COMPUTER SKILLS COMPETENCY TEST. The existing EDUC 3100 and EDUC 6100 are still valid.

  • *Cost of the GACE COMPUTER SKILLS COMPETENCY TEST is $35.00.
  • *You must bring a credit card and 2 forms of ID to take the test.
  • *The test will be given at the Educational Technology Training Center at AASU in University Hall, Room 128.
  • *Study guides are available at this website: http://www.gace.nesinc.com/GA_PG_178_opener.asp
  • *If you fail, you must wait 30 days until you can take it again.
