exclamation-point.jpgThere has been a recent change in the State of Georgia’s requirement for Computer Skills Competency.  In the past, students could elect to take the computer skills assessment through the computer center at any time and the cost was free.

Effective November 2007, the Computer Skills Competency Assessment is now part of the Georgia Assessments for Certification of Educators (GACE).  The assessment can only be taken on GACE exam days and only through the registration for the GACE process.

The next date for the assessment is January 12th.  This is a requirement by the State for certification.  It is not a graduation requirement.  If you have taken the EDUC 3100/6100 course, this will exempt you from the assessment.  If you have attended a LiveText workshop, you are NOT exempt and you are still required to pass the Computer Skills Competency Assessment.

There is discussion to have the assessment returned to the campus for students to take at any time, but as of now, you must register for the assessment through GACE.
