TIP - Teacher Induction Program
March 19, 2007 |
Along with the rewards of teahing, there are also some frustrations. The pressure and anxiety associated with any new job can be stressful, but the combined concerns of subject matter planning and implementing teaching methods can be frightening. The Teacher Induction Program (TIP) is designed to help new teachers during the time of adjustment to your new profession.
TIP provides the needed support to make your transition into a seasoned professional easier. By planning seminars for both predicted needs and requested subjects, TIP addresses the difficulties that arise in the classroom. TIP also develops new training materials which deal with current teaching isssues facing groups of new teachers.
The TIP coordinator will make on-site visits to help individuals who may want assistance in trouble-shooting problem areas. Through a collaborative effort with mentors, administrators and faculty, the TIP coordinator can reinforce positive teaching and provide insight on ways to further improve your teaching techniques.
The TIP coordinator serves as a liasison between administrators, mentors and new teachers. She monitors the progress of new teachers and nurtures effective relationships between new teachers, mentors and administrators. Induction Institutes, a series of workshops for new teachers, are conducted at Armstrong Atlantic State University or at individual school sites.
For more information, contact Marsha Moore, the TIP coordinator, via e-mail or by telephone at 912.921.7330.
